Once an area of woodland near the independent settlement of Tottenham, Wood Green is a busy north London community benefiting from fast, frequent public transport links to central London. The suburb is adjacent to beautiful Alexandra Park, a Green Flag-award winning landscaped public park noted for its impressive Guy Fawkes fireworks.

The Alexandra Palace

Between Wood Green and Muswell Hill, the Alexandra Palace was built in the 1870s, although it was destroyed by a fire and rebuilt shortly afterwards. The building, which was originally coined 'The People's Palace', was, for many years, a BBC television and radio centre, and is now a Listed landmark. Today, it is regularly used for concerts, corporate functions and exhibitions, and offers a superb panoramic view of London.

The Mall Wood Green

Featuring more than 100 retail venues, The Mall Wood Green is one of the busiest shopping complexes in north London, and opened as the 'Wood Green Shopping City' in the 1970s. The centre also has dozens of great market stalls, and now contains a 12-screen Cineworld cinema.

Take the Tube to the internationally acclaimed British Museum near Holborn, see splendid Tower Bridge and the adjacent Tower of London, or have a stroll around London's most famous public park, Hyde Park. A little nearer to Wood Green is Hampstead Heath, another much-loved park that is one of the highest parts of London and commands outstanding views of the city's skyline.
