Hotels in Westward Ho

Based in a popular beachside destination on the north Devon coast, Westward Ho! hotels are within reach of Blue Flag beaches and breathtaking country parks.

The main attraction in Westward Ho! is without a doubt the village's sandy beach. Westward Ho! Beach sprawls out over two miles of golden sands. Whether you plan on digging sandcastles with the kids, basking in the sun with a good book or jumping into the waters and enjoying a swim, there is something for everything at the beach. The far end of the beach is particularly popular with kite surfers and even if you'd prefer to relax on the sand the kites can be great fun to watch. The waters are fantastic for surfing and body-boarding.

Northam Burrows Country Park

Bordering the northern end of the beach is Northam Burrows Country Park, an area of special scientific interest due to its varied wildlife and range of habitats including salt marshes, grassland and sand dunes. The area is perfect for family bike rides and the Northam Burrows Centre features a fascinating exhibition on the conservation work going on in the country park.

In addition to Northam Burrows Country Park, there are several other areas close to Westward Ho! where you can come face to face with wildlife. The BIG Sheep is a short drive from the village centre and features a large variety of farm animals as well as rollercoasters, live shows and indoor play areas. Also within easy reach of Westward Ho! is Exmoor Zoo, a hands-on zoo with a regular feeding and handling sessions and an excellent choice if you're visiting with kids in tow.

Further afield

South of The BIG Sheep centre is Atlantic Village, a large outlet mall and a good place to visit if you're planning on enjoying some retail therapy. Follow the River Taw east from Westward Ho! and you'll come across Barnstaple. Keep heading east and you'll eventually hit Exmoor National Park, a vast area of natural beauty.
