Hotels in Uxbridge

A bustling town in Greater London, Uxbridge makes a good destination for a short stay thanks to its location between city and countryside. Uxbridge itself and the surrounding area offer hotels for all budgets and requirements to make your stay in the town as simple as possible.

Uxbridge is particularly convenient for its good transport links, providing easy access and making it easy to pay a visit to London too. Uxbridge is connected to the London Underground system by the Metropolitan and Piccadilly lines, as well as having good bus connections to Hillingdon and Slough, among other locations. As well as daytrips to London, Uxbridge's transport links certainly make it easier to return home after a long night out! Uxbridge hotels make the perfect base from which to explore the local sights and experiences.

Local landmarks

Located in the middle of Uxbridge High Street, the beautiful St Margaret's Church is difficult to miss. The church stands on a church site dating to the 7th century, while its existing architecture features elements that are over 700 years old.

Arguably Uxbridge's most eye-catching landmark, the Civic Centre is a large and imposing redbrick building housing the local council. The centre's clock tower is the one remainder of the previous council building.

Uxbridge is home to RAF Uxbridge, an ex-Royal Air Force station situated in the grounds of Hillingdon House. The site is known for its historic role in the Battle of Britain and for being visited by Winston Churchill, but nowadays it attracts attention for its artefacts such as the No. 33 Squadron Supermarine Spitfire and the No. 303 Hawker Hurricane.

Uxbridge town centre is pedestrianized for the most part, meaning that a shopping trip in the heart of the town is a peaceful experience. The town has two major shopping centres, Intu Uxbridge and The Pavilions, as well as the striking Art Deco style and Grade II listed department store, Randall's.

Venturing into the outdoors

Only a short trip out of Uxbridge you can find yourself in Denham Country Park, an expansive natural environment ready to be discovered by foot or bike. At the Colne Valley Visitor Centre you can find any information you might need to make the most of your visit, including trail maps and guides to identifying the wildlife. Denham Country Park is a natural haven, made up of both meadow and wetland and surrounded by waterways, including the Grand Union Canal. Bird-lovers should look out for kingfishers and warblers in the air.
