Hotels in Tsilivi

On the Greek island of Zakynthos, Tsilivi is a major tourist resort. The other name for the area is Planos, and whatever you call it the resort has vibrant nightlife and a general family friendly atmosphere. Stay out late enough and you might get wrapped up in a music-filled, plate-smashing Greek taverna night. A wander away from the taverna-lined central streets will lead you to the more relaxed areas of town.

Experience Greece

Zakynthos (also known as Zante) is the third biggest of the Ionian Islands.

The individual local flavour includes that of the food. Stuffed rabbit is an island speciality, as is spetsofai – a dish of sausages, peppers and aubergine.

The capital of the island is Zante (Zakynthos) Town, a ten-minute drive from Tsilivi. A quarter of the island's population lives here, creating a bustling and busy contrast to some of the quieter area. You can take a ferry from Zante Town to the Greek mainland.

Things to do in Tsilivi

When it's warm and sunny, head to Tsilivi Water Park to have fun and cool off. The park is a holiday resort in its own right, giving you another option alongside Tsilivi hotels.

You can also relax on Tsilivi Beach, which is over a mile long and has Blue Flag status. Half of the beach is for laying towels out, the other half has rows and rows of sun loungers for hire.

Go bowling at Bowl'm Over, which has four lanes, pool tables, mini golf and arcade games. There are two bars, one outside with a veranda so you can make the most of the weather.

At the north end of Tsilivi beach, there's a vardiola – an old Venetian observatory. The wider Vardiola area of the island, named after it, is popular as a wedding venue.

Shopping and souvenirs

If you're in the mood to shop, go in the morning – some stores close at lunchtime and don't open again until the next day. Tsilivi Market is a good place to find Greek souvenirs and jewellery.

Rugs and leather goods are popular items to pick up as souvenirs, as they're usually of a good quality. If you need to fit something smaller in your case, try mantolato (nougat) or bracelets with the Greek ‘evil eye' on them.
