The town of Rickmansworth is located in Hertfordshire just inside the perimeter of the M25. Being a mere 19 miles from Central London, the town has a rural atmosphere yet is easily accessible to all the capital's attractions and amenities.


Set on the Grand Union Canal, Batchworth Lock Canal Centre gives you a chance to discover the history of the canal and narrow boats and see ‘Roger', the last wooden boat to trade on the canal. Canal trips are available at weekends from Easter until late October.

Chiltern Open Air Museum is a great day out for all the family. Set in 45 acres, the museum has 30 historic buildings on display including an Iron Age house and a working Victorian farm. The museum has events throughout the year such as jousting, and at Sharpe's Rifles you can ‘meet' the riflemen of Wellington's Army from the Napoleonic Wars. A great day out, you can also watch army drills, exciting skirmishes and other displays.


Rickmansworth Aquadrome is a local nature reserve and habitat for numerous wildlife, covering a massive 41 hectares. A lovely tranquil place to have a picnic, cycle, fish or take a guided walk on which you can search for bats and other wildlife, the Aquadrome also hosts the annual Rickmansworth Festival on the third weekend of May.

Take a 2.5-mile trip along the miniature Ruislip Lido Railway, followed up with feeding the ducks and swans on Ruislip Lido and relaxing on the popular man-made beach.

Food and drink

For a lovely cake after your day exploring, make sure you visit Cinnamon Square in the town centre. For its size, Rickmansworth is well-catered for in terms of eateries. There are a number of Italian restaurants that offer excellent food such as ZaZa Restaurant, Buon Cibo and Maurizio's in the town centre.
