The East Lancashire Railway is a 12-mile long heritage railway line running between Rawtenstall and Heywood. Open every weekend, the railway holds themed events and driver experience courses, along with dining experiences and family days out featuring characters such as Thomas the Tank Engine and Paddington Bear. Run entirely by the East Lancashire Railway Preservation Society, the railway is famous for its diesel locomotives and 140 carriages, wagons and utility vehicles.


The Ramsbottom Festival is a large music event which takes place over three days in September at Ramsbottom Cricket Club and is full of family-friendly music and entertainment.
