Hotels in Parga

On the western coast of Greece, in a secluded bay lapped by the Ionian Sea, lies the resort of Parga. Book a Parga hotel with us and discover why this small town has a built a reputation for its picturesque beauty.

Parga's Peaks

Parga's vibrantly coloured buildings rise in tiers up the slope of a mountain. Ascend the path that takes you to the peak and you'll have terrific views of the town, bay, and the expanse of sea beyond. At the top of a hill overlooking the town is the Venetian Castle of Parga, constructed to protect the town from invaders. This fort provides tranquil walks along stone trails and through cypress trees, including a concealed path that leads to the sea.

Sand and sea

There are several beaches and bays along the coast. Closest to the town centre is Town Beach which is long and sandy. Two large bays, Valtos and Lichnos, consist of silken sand and soft pebbles with lush greenery rising behind the beaches.

Enjoy a swim in the crystal clear, blue water or take a boat trip. Perhaps visit the nearby islands of Paxos and Antipaxos, both of which are beautiful in their own right. On your journey, you'll have unique views of caves along the Parga's rocky coastline. Take the opportunity to see if you can spot a dolphin or two. The Acheron River, which flows into the sea at nearby Ammoudia, makes for a terrific excursion by boat too.

Food and drink

Parga was once home to an olive oil factory which ran from 1929 until 1974. The site has since been renovated and is now a museum which houses all the original machinery. Take a tour and learn about this fine industry. And even seize the opportunity to taste crusty breads dripping with delicious local olive oils which come in a variety of citrus flavours. You'll also be able to buy olive oils in the museum's shop.

Parga has a good sprinkling of cocktail bars and espresso bars, many of which open late into the night.

Popular for its homemade spirits, liquors and cocktails, made to traditional recipes, Pargas Distillery is an eatery with a courtyard setting and views of the castle and across the beach. The menu includes Greek salad, tapas and octopus. Aegis Dine and Drink is another restaurant from where you'll enjoy great views and this eating house has found favour with patrons for its extensive cuisine and friendly service. Christos is a classic taverna that's enjoyed by locals and travellers alike. Situated on the beach, it's a good place to grab a coffee or stay longer for some tasty Greek cooking.
