A' Chailleach is a nearby mountain, the highest of the Am Monadh Liath range, and is a good location for both walking and skiing. Also nearby is Creag Dubh, a picturesque hill where you'll find Cluny's cave, where the chief of the MacPherson Clan hid for nine years.

Also worth visiting is the Cairngorm Reindeer Centre, based in Aviemore at the foot of the Cairngorm Mountains. The centre gives you a chance to follow a reindeer herder as they guide you through the reindeer's habitation. Once you've reached the habitation you'll be able to stroke and feed the reindeer by hand – definitely an experience to remember.
