The medieval city of Montepellier is conveniently situated within easy reach of the Mediterranean Sea in the south of France. Its winding alleyways and steep inclines, give it an aged, romantic feel. Visit the oldest botanical garden in the whole of France, known as the Jardin des plantes de Montpellier, with its stunning parkland and rare collection of native plants. Established in 1593, it has an enchanting Orangery, a landscaped arboretum and an English Garden, complete with a greenhouse and pool.
