Hotels in Marbella

Marbella, one of the most desirable and family-friendly holiday destinations in southern Spain, is also among the warmest, sunniest locations in all of Europe. This area of the Costa del Sol also features many spectacular sandy beaches, and is revered for its fresh seafood dishes.

Points of interest:

The Museo del Grabado Español Contemporáneo

Celebrating its 20th anniversary in 2012, the The Museo del Grabado Español Contemporáneo showcases the great works of many prominent Spanish contemporary artists, and is housed in a former hospital. This venue also organises regular art competitions and concerts, and holds the annual National Engraving Awards.

The Puerto Banús marina

Certainly one of the most photogenic marinas in the country, Puerto Banús was completed in 1970 and is now a flourishing entertainment centre, with many high-end shops such as Dolce & Gabbana and Christian Dior. From here, you can also treat yourself to a luxury yacht excursion, or feel free to visit some of the marina's fantastic restaurants.

The Plaza de los Naranjos

This scenic square, which is the location of the impressive 15th-century Ermita de Santiago church, has existed for more than 500 years and was created soon after the fall of Islamic Spain. Today, the Plaza de los Naranjos is surrounded by pleasant cafes and fine whitewashed houses, and is centred on a beautiful Renaissance-style fountain.

The castle

Part of Marbella's quaint old quarter, the castle is more than 1,100 years old and was one of the finest Moorish landmarks in Andalusia. Although little remains of the original structure, the surviving sections of the fort can still be viewed from streets around it.

Nightlife in Marbella

If you're looking for a fun, laid-back atmosphere, you can visit The Sinatra Bar, or consider the elegant and romantic Olivia Valere bar. Some of the most reputed nightclubs in the city include the partially open-air Tibu Banus club, bustling Aqwa Mist, and the exclusive Suite Nightclub.

Places to stay at the resort

A few of the most exquisite Marbella Hotels include the deluxe Iberostar Marbella Coral Beach, the chic Puente Romano Beach Resort Marbella, the family-friendly Vincci Seleccion Estrella del Mar, and the charming Gran Melia Don Pepe. Other, more affordable places to stay include the well-presented Hotel Linda Marbella, the convenient Hostal Berlin, and the cosy Hostal Paco.

Where to eat out - suggestions

Enjoy some heart-warming Italian and Mediterranean cuisine at the Aragona Cucina Italiana, or visit Restaurante Messina for other delightful international flavours.
