Hotels in Luss

The quaint Scottish village of Luss is beautifully placed on the west bank of Loch Lomond. Thirty miles to the north of Glasgow, this rural conservation village retains its charm, with stone cottages dotted amongst the beautiful unspoilt Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park.

Attractions

The most obvious attraction in Luss is Loch Lomond, and the best way to see the Loch in all its glory is by boat. Loch Lomond Leisure offer boat tours and hire, from a scenic tour to an adrenaline-fuelled speedboat ride. They even cater for special occasions such as parties.

For a short, steady walk, head along the Luss Heritage Trail which goes around the village and surrounding woodlands. Make sure you include Luss Pier in your walk to take in the natural beauty, and Luss Parish Church which houses some spectacular examples of stained glass windows. For a longer, more challenging walk, Glen Striddle horseshoe is your answer. While ascending, you will find breathtaking, picture postcard views of Loch Lomond and towards the Arrochar Alps.

If you like cycling or mountain biking, Luss provides trails for all abilities. West Loch Lomond cycle path has 16.5 miles of trails, or head to the nearby Argyll Forest.

At Inverbeg Galleries you can browse the extensive selection of Scottish art on show, including landscape and seascape paintings.

A short drive away in Balloch, Loch Lomond Shores provides a luxury shopping experience, with designer labels such as Hugo Boss, Barbour and Radley. After shopping, relax in one of the cafés and restaurants or browse the continental and famers' markets. There is also Loch Lomond Bird of Prey Centre and adventure golf for the whole family to enjoy.

Food and drink

For a small village, Luss provides excellent, varied choice for food and drink with pubs, coffee shops and even fine dining.

Take away or eat in, Mr C's Fish and Whisky Bar provides fresh, locally sourced fish and a selection of malt whiskies that are sure to tickle your palette.

A great place for some rest and relaxation is the appropriately named The Village Rest. Enjoy a cup of coffee and cake or an evening meal on the tranquil shores of Loch Lomond.

If you want fine dining with a view then head to Colquhoun's and enjoy their locally sourced dishes, whilst taking in the surroundings of Loch Lomond and Ben Lomond.
