Hotels in Leavesden

Close to the many large-scale sets used in the Harry Potter film franchise, Leavesden hotels are the perfect choice for visitors looking for a place to stay close to Warner Bros. Studios, Leavesden.

Harry Potter

Who knew that there could be so much magic in a residential town close to Watford? The main pull of this area in Hertfordshire is Harry Potter. More specifically, the Warner Bros. Studios where many of the large set pieces were made and filmed.

The studios are the home of Warner Bros. Studio Tour London, which opened in 2012 and have the capacity to handle 5,000 visitors each day. The Harry Potter sets in the tour include the Great Hall of Hogwarts, Dumbledore's Office, the Ministry of Magic, Diagon Alley, Gryffindor Common Room and Hagrid's Hut. There is also a staggeringly intricate 1:24 scale model of Hogwarts Castle and a triple-decker Knight Bus to hop on.

The studio is still active, and apart from Harry Potter has helped to make films such as Goldeneye, Sleepy Hollow and The Dark Knight. The studios contain 50,000m2 of space as well as a 32-acre backlot.

Outdoors

Travel south of Leavesden and within a few minutes drive you'll find yourself close to Ruislip Woods National Nature Reserve, an area of exceptional beauty and perfect for outdoor walks with the family. Also nearby is Colne Valley Park and Black Park Country Park.

London

A short journey either by car of public transport will take you into the heart of London. If you're travelling for Harry Potter, London boasts a number of locations from the books and films. Head to Kings Cross Railway Station to find Platform 9 ¾, head to London Zoo to find the Reptile House where Harry finds out that he can talk to snakes, or make your way to Charing Cross Road to discover the location where the muggle road turns into the magical Diagon Alley – the set of which is in Warner Bros. Studio Tour London.

If you're all Pottered-out, London has plenty of other famous attractions, from the world-class art of The National Gallery and the historical wonders at The British Museum, to the green spaces of Hyde Park and the iconic Houses of Parliament.
