Hotels in Lacock
Charming and completely unspoilt, Lacock is a rare find when it comes to seeing a picture perfect town filled with head-turning buildings and sights.
The town is so well preserved, it's been the setting for many TV show and films, from Harry Potter, to Emma and Cranford. Houses in Lacock date from the 18th century and beyond, and it really is a beautiful spot to escape to, especially during the annual Scarecrow Festival.
Planning your time in Lacock
The top destination for anyone visiting this beautiful little town has to be Lacock Abbey. From its beginnings as a cloister, to its progression to a Tudor mansion, this breathtaking building is full of surprises and interesting artefacts from an impressive 800-year history, and it's worth checking out.
While you're in the area, pop across to the Fox Talbot Museum too. Dedicated to Fox Talbot, it charts his historic discovery of the first photographic negative, an invention that changed the world as we know it.
But for the ultimate relaxing day, wander around the pretty streets of the town. There are plenty of lovely places to drop in at, including the Sue Stokes Antiques shop, Wiltshire Scrapstore gift shop and Lacock Bakery shop and café.
Make yourself at home
The best way to immerse yourself in the buzzing atmosphere of Lacock is to stay somewhere historic and full of character. You can look into local holiday rentals or book in at one of the B&B's like The Old Clubhouse and Peacock Pottery B&B. But unsurprisingly, there aren't any big Lacock hotels to check into in the town itself.
Dining options are great too. The Sign of the Angel and The Red Lion are two popular pubs. King John's Hunting Lodge Tearoom and the Old Stable Café are great for a light bite, and it's a perfect way to wind down after a long day seeing the sights.
