One of Khao Lak's many virtues is the pace of life which lends itself to exploration and contemplation. People come here to escape the hurly burly of normal existence and take advantage of the stunning beaches, aqua oceans and rich plant life.

With nearly 20 miles of coastland, Khao Lak is ideally suited to marine activities and there are plenty of diving centres that provide the opportunity for diving and snorkelling. There's a rich abundance of sea life to swim alongside such as turtles and manta rays, as well as the opportunity to investigate nearby reefs and shipwrecks. The neighbouring Similan and Surin Islands, with their unspoiled beaches, coral reefs and verdant rainforests, provide even more scope for diving and exploration.

Head inland to Khao Lak-Lam Ru National Park where you'll discover some of the oldest rainforests on the planet. Here you'll see an assortment of mangroves, valleys, estuaries and hills reaching 1,000 metres in height. Walk the 3km long nature trail and admire the local wildlife, from black bears, monkeys and gibbons to tapirs, hornbills and drongos.
