A fantastic destination for experiencing the countryside is Barton Hills National Nature Reserve, covering miles of chalk grassland and woodland. Travel a little further afield and you'll soon reach Knebworth House, a large Gothic mansion dating from the 15th century and frequently home to large open-air rock concerts.
