Hotels in Hisaronu
Based on a mountain plateau overlooking the Olu Deniz lagoon, Hisaronu Hotels are an excellent place to stay for trips to the beautiful Mu?la Province of Turkey.
Hills and beaches
Popular with both families and couples looking for a beachside holiday away from the chaos of larger resorts, Hisaronu has grown as a laid-back alternative for travellers wanting a place to stay off the beaten track. The elevated position of the resort in the hills offers magnificent views of the coast and a handy proximity to the nearby towns of Oludeniz, Ovacik, Fethiye and Calis – all of which are worth visiting.
A short journey towards the coast from Hisaronu will take you down to K?z Kumu Beach, an excellent place for lounging in the sun, catching up with a good book or swimming in stunning turquoise waters.
Marmaris
A short journey from Hisaronu will take you to the larger resort town of Marmaris. A party town that attracts holidaymakers from all over Europe, Marmaris can be a little noisy at times but is a great place to go if you're looking to drink and dance. Away from the bars there are a number of cultural attractions to visit, including Marmaris Castle and Museum. The castle dates from 1522 and was an assembly point for 200,000 troops during the time of Suleyman the Magnificent. The museum attached to the castle has a collection of impressive historical artefacts covering the history of the town. Also around the castle area is Marmaris' Old Town, full of narrow lanes and old buildings to amble through.
Fethiye
Travel further along the coast from Marmaris and you'll reach Fethiye, home to a gorgeous natural harbour and the remains of the ancient city of Telmessos. Carved into the rock face of Telmessos is the magnificent Tomb of Amyntas, dating from 350BC. Close to the harbour you'll find the remains of a Roman amphitheatre dating from 200BC and Lycian stone sarcophagi dating from 450BC.
Oludeniz
A little further south from Fethiye is Oludeniz, a popular beachside destination with a plethora of restaurants and bars. Much busier than Hisaronu, Oludeniz is normally packed full of tourists flocking to the beach. If you're looking for a lively atmosphere this is a great place to visit but if you'd rather enjoy some peace and quiet you might want to avoid Oludeniz during peak season.
