Hotels in Hayle

Heyl is the Cornish word for 'estuary', which aptly describes this little town's location. Book a Hayle hotel with us and discover a destination that flourishes by the inland waters of St Ives Bay, with golden sands and beautiful countryside nearby.

Three miles of golden sands

On the eastern edge of the entrance to St Ives Bay, Hayle's golden-sanded beaches begin and continue unbroken for some three miles to Godrevy Head. Perfect for play, safe for swimming, this coastal stretch is also ideal for surfing and sailing, snorkelling and diving. And at Mutton Cove you can observe the Grey seals that frequent the isolated coves on this part of the shoreline. These marine creatures – also known as Atlantic seals – can grow to in excess of three metres in length.

Paradise on earth?

Paradise Park is a where you can get up close and personal to an array of creatures that include flamingos, penguins, otters and red pandas. The park is also home to a variety of farm animals, as well as the multi-coloured birds of the World Parrot Trust. Kids will relish the opportunity to feed the animals and then burn off some steam in the outdoor and indoor play areas.

Walks

Hayle is rich with walking opportunities, and on the Millpond Trail you'll see a fascinating old ruin, a wealth of plant species and over 100 kinds of birds including moorhens, swans, ducks and herons. The George V Memorial Walk was created to commemorate the Silver Jubilee of the King and his consort, Queen Mary. This gentle flower-lined path runs parallel to Copperhouse Pool, a tidal reservoir which, at its eastern point, merges with the River Hayle and, ultimately, St Ives Bay. Along its length you'll discover a fragrant garden, which is open to the public, and you'll also have the opportunity to spot curlews, sandpipers and Canada geese.

Eating and drinking in Hayle

Ideal for tea or coffee, biscotti or cakes, Antoninis is a little Italian restaurant which concentrates on quality not quantity with its small menu of rustic treats that uses locally sourced ingredients. The Salt Kitchen Bar is a relaxed, chic and contemporary café-cum-bar which serves "funky cocktails", beers spirits and wine to accompany gourmet burgers, steaks, fish and grilled sandwiches. An extremely popular restaurant, Sanders is known for its friendly staff and serves terrific fish and chips which are available to eat in or take out.
