Hotels in Grantham

A busy market town in Lincolnshire, Grantham is best known as the birthplace of former Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher and the home of Sir Isaac Newton. With skateboard parks, indoor and outdoor pools and several parks to suit all ages, all parties will be easily entertained. The town has plenty of pubs, clubs, restaurants and Grantham hotels.

Attractions

The Grantham Museum is one of the county's biggest attractions, hosting WW2 artefacts in its DD Exhibition, and a Dambusters tribute which explains the breakthrough idea which was devised in Grantham. The Life of Margaret Thatcher Exhibit celebrates one of the country's most defining political figures. All these can be enjoyed at your leisure and entry to the museum is free of charge.

Both Belvoir Castle and Woolsthorpe Manor are worth visiting. Seeing both sites within the same day is simple due to their close proximity to one another, however you might prefer to set aside a whole day for each due to their interest and beauty. Guided tours are offered and there is no need to worry about booking, as you are able to just walk in during opening times.

A short walk from Woolsthorpe Manor is St Johns Church, the medieval church of St John the Baptist. His parents are buried in a grave beneath the organ, which is also said to be the hiding place of a sundial he carved himself at the tender age of nine. There is plenty of eye-opening history here to feed any intrigued mind.

Restaurants, pubs and night-life

Grantham boasts a variety of restaurants and pubs. Oscars Wine Bar in The George Shopping Centre is open until the early hours and offers a large drinks menu, gourmet burgers and the sweet sound of contemporary music. Live bands are readily promoted and the bar offers 'open mic' nights, with free drinks often being given to those who brave the stage.

If you prefer a more traditional menu, the Chameleon Music Bar and Steak House on the High Street is considered to uphold one of the best traditional pub menus in Grantham. Delicious meals from pies to simple brunches are served, all reasonably priced. Promotions are available on Wednesdays, with deals such as ‘buy one get 50% free' on certain dishes.
