Hotels in Goodwood

Goodwood is the home of UK horse and motor racing. It's an area of Chichester, West Sussex, that's renowned globally for the finest sporting events. Goodwood's importance in the revival of British motorsport is as legendary as the races that take place here. With so much going on, booking Goodwood hotels in advance for your stay is essential. From the B&B to the country club, there's something for everyone.

Sports and days out

For decades, the Goodwood Racecourse has been synonymous with the area. The five-day festival is known as Glorious Goodwood, and several of the most important UK horse races are held here. You can also get a great view of the Sussex Downs from the racecourse.

Another annual event that draws massive crowds is the Goodwood Festival of Speed. This celebration of classic and new cars includes a famous hill climb. More than 100,000 people visit Goodwood on every day of the festival.

The Goodwood Circuit is used for car and motorcycle racing. It was created in 1948, and has been the venue for endurance races and a land speed world record attempt.

Goodwood sightseeing

Discover more of the area's own history at Goodwood House, a 17th-century country manor and Grade I listed building. Most of the local sporting events are held on the house's sprawling grounds.

South of the racecourse, the Monarch's Way walking trail passes through the area. The 615-mile route runs from Worcester all the way to Brighton, with Yeovil and Bristol on the way.

It also takes in the Goodwood Country Park. The wide open space is perfect for taking a brisk walk – or for taking a picnic with you.

Food and drink

After an exciting day, there are plenty of cafés, bars and restaurants at Goodwood in which to relax and unwind. The Aero Club Café is right next to the motor racing circuit, offering views of the old RAF airfield with your coffee and cake.

Gain access to the private members' clubhouse for classy dining at The Kennels. For a family welcome and a cosy atmosphere, try the Goodwood Bar and Grill.

The Richmond Arms is another favourite, with local ingredients used in every dish. The bar area has the original feel of a 17th-century coaching inn, complete with a crackling log fire in winter.
