Hotels in Golders Green

The London suburb of Golders Green has a strong, friendly community atmosphere. It was once the site of the famous Golders Green Hippodrome, which was used as a BBC TV studio during the 1960s. Golders Green's Jewish population is well-known, and many Turkish and Italian people also make the area their home. As such the multicultural ambience is evident as soon as you step outside.

There are plenty of Golders Green hotels to choose from, all within handy walking distance of public transport links.

Things to do in Golders Green

The area is home to the London Jewish Cultural Centre, which holds talks, guided tours of Golders Green and other events throughout the year. The building is said to be the former home of legendary ballerina Anna Pavlova.

Take a stroll to the Hampstead Heath Extension, an extra green space to the north-west of the main heath. Golders Hill Park is on the other side of the main road, with a bandstand and tennis courts.

It's not far to the Brent Cross shopping centre, which has over 120 outlets. The complex also contains restaurants such as Gourmet Burger Kitchen and Carluccio's, as well as cafés for a coffee and quick snack.

Visiting London

Golders Green is in zone three, and Golders Green Underground station is on the Northern line.

It takes roughly 15 minutes to get to central London, via Euston for national rail connections. The branch of the line via Bank also runs to King's Cross St Pancras and to London Bridge for Borough Market.

Camden Town is on the way – get off here to explore London's maze of alternative street stalls.

Food and drink

The area's strong religious community means that kosher food is easy to come by. At the Golders Green Kosher Delicatessen & Butchers, you can also pick up a bottle of wine to go with your meal. There is also a much wider choice of restaurants and takeaways around to suit all tastes.

Head to Taboon for fresh falafel (deep fried chickpeas). The restaurant is known for the crunchiness of its falafel and for serving generous portions.

Grodzinski is a local bakery that rivals the big names on Brick Lane for the quality of its bagels. Their Jerusalem beigels are thinner and longer than typical bagels.
