Benefiting from fast, frequent railway links to dozens of other cities and towns across the country, Euston is very conveniently located for exploring central London's extraordinary wealth of attractions.
Attractions in the area:
St Pancras Railway Station
Probably the most handsome railway station in Britain, Grade I Listed St Pancras Railway Station is celebrated for its decorative Victorian architecture and opened in the 1860s. During the 2000s, the building benefited from a substantial renovation, and is now home to a shopping centre and more than a dozen platforms, although the best view of this building is certainly from the outside. This is also the station where you can also take a two-hour-and-fifteen-minute journey to the centre of Paris via the world-famous Eurostar rail service, which can travel at speeds of up to 186 miles per hour.
The British Museum
Discover two million years of history by visiting the British Museum, where you can learn about the evolution of civilisation and art in a building that is so large it could fit into nine football pitches. The museum marked its 250th anniversary in 2003 and features approximately eight million objects, which means it is one of the world's largest exhibition galleries.
The British Library
In terms of catalogued items, the British Library can be considered the world's largest library, housing approximately 14 million books and 170 million items, some of which are more than 4, 000 years old. For more than two centuries, the library belonged to the British Museum, although it became an independent entity in the 1970s, and moved to its current location in the 1990s.
Oxford Street and the West End
With around 300 shops, which include the likes of House of Fraser and Selfridges, Oxford Street is one of the world's leading shopping destinations and is decorated in a fantastic illumination display during the Christmas period. The West End, meanwhile, contains hundreds of restaurants serving practically every major world cuisine, and a superb selection of acclaimed theatres, historic pubs and bustling nightclubs to cater to every taste.
