Hotels in Estepona

The town of Estepona, on the Costa del Sol, is part of Spain's autonomous Andalusian region. Its cobbled streets, 21km of beaches and unique microclimate, which gives it over 325 days of sunshine per year, make this a popular year-round spot for holidaymakers. With plenty of Estepona hotels and restaurants to choose from, this is an ideal destination for sun worshippers.

Activities

Estepona's extensive beaches offer something to suit everyone. Good for families is Playa del Cristo – a sheltered cove with lifeguards and two ‘chiringuitos' or restaurants. The 2km-long Playa Galera is popular with locals. There's also a nudist beach, Playa Costa Natura, which occupies a 500m section of the Playa Arroyo Vaqueros.

For a day out, the Selwo Safari Park is fashioned after an African safari park and home to 2,000 animals in semi-wild conditions – including giraffes, hippos, rhinos and monkeys. It has plenty of adventures for adults and children alike, including one of the longest fixed zipwires in Europe as well as camel rides and archery. With restaurants and an ice cream shop, it offers an activity filled day for families.

Shopping

In the old town, there are a host of small and medium-sized shops that are perfect for gentle browsing. In the centre is an indoor market, offering fresh produce, while, on Wednesdays there's a food and clothes market in the main square. Estepona is also the home of a Sunday market which specialises in textile and leather goods. For those who want to do some serious clothes shopping, Puerto Banús, which is 30 minutes' drive away from the port, offers upscale boutiques with a number of designer stores.

Restaurants, Cafes and Bars

Unlike other parts of the Costa Del Sol, Estepona is not a nightclub spot. It does, however, have a variety of restaurants and bars. Its restaurants are primarily dotted along the seafront – both on the main promenade and around Calle Real and the surrounding plazas. Characterised by the fresh seafood and Mediterranean cuisines, many of these restaurants offer terraces to enjoy the exceptional warm weather.
