Hotels in Dungannon

The proud winner of the Ulster in Bloom award on several occasions, Dungannon is a pleasant cosmopolitan town that evolved from a small Plantation settlement founded by the English.

What to see:

Peatlands Park

This pictorial 250-hectare park is an ideal location for picnics and is a National Nature Reserve. The park, which marked its 25th anniversary in 2015, is near the southern edge of Lough Neagh, and is the location of the annual Northern Ireland Bog Snorkelling Championships.

The Argory

This attractive 1820s mansion was built in the distinctive Neoclassical style and is surrounded by a beautiful 320-acre estate. The Argory is also revered for its Lady Ada's tea room and offers superb views over the River Blackwater.

Nearby – the vast waters of Lough Neagh

The U.K's largest lake in terms of surface area, Lough Neagh provides more than two thirds of Northern Ireland's water supply and is an important bird haven. The 151-square mile lake is surprisingly shallow for its size, however, and has an average depth of less than 10 metres.

Other day trip ideas

A short drive away is the pleasant town of Armagh, which is home to two cathedrals and was an important monastic centre for much of the Middle Ages. Dungannon hotels are also within easy reach of the Ulster American Folk Park, an intriguing open-air museum that showcases the history of immigration from the Ulster area to America in the Georgian and Victorian eras.
