Hotels in Cologne

Cologne is a distinctive and interesting city to visit which has a very friendly population who'll welcome you on your visit. The city has a fantastic selection of top attractions to visit and a multitude of fascinating museums. Whether you are planning a weekend getaway or a week's visit, Cologne will not disappoint.

Kölner Dom

The Kölner Dom is Germany's largest cathedral and you really won't want to leave without having visited it. The cathedral has two impressive towers and you can climb up 509 stairs to the top of the southern tower. The climb takes about an hour but is definitely worth it for the breathtaking views you're rewarded with at the top. The climb also gives an opportunity to see the Peter Bell which is the largest free-swinging working bell in the world. The cathedral is not only home to some incredible historical art by Stephan Lochner but also a contemporary stained glass window by the artist Gerhard Richter.

Just a short distance from the Kölner Dom is the Römisch-Germanisches Museum which is home to some amazing original Roman mosaics. The museum has an excellent collection of Roman artefacts that were discovered all across the Rhine. A real highlight of the museum is its very well-preserved glass collection. The museum also has a collection of less impressive but equally interesting items that were used in everyday Roman life, like toys and tweezers.
