Hotels in Can Pastilla

Originally an old fishing village, C'an Pastilla is situated in southern Majorca, in close proximity to Palma and the Son Sant Joan International Airport. It was one of the first Spanish resorts to be discovered by the British during the onset of tourism in the early 1960s, and this is partly due to its excellent location.

History

Before the British tourism boom began in the 1960s, C'an Pastilla was nothing more than a pretty fishing village, with one narrow main street running through the centre. Once holidaymakers began to arrive, bigger and more modern buildings sprang up in abundance.

Nearby Palma has strong historical influences and, once in C'an Pastilla, tourists can visit the grand and very beautiful Palma Cathedral, built almost 800 years ago in the Catalan Gothic style. The Gothic Bellver Castle, situated 3km from the centre of Palma, is home to the Desuig collection of classical sculptures. It is one of the few circular castles in Europe and was built in the 14th century for King James II of Majorca.

Activities

Boasting crystal blue waters and beautiful golden sands, C'an Pastilla has everything you could ask for in a beach holiday. There are many watersports on offer along the beaches and little bars are dotted all along the coastline offering drinks and snacks. Follow the main street down to the picturesque harbour where many elegant yachts can be admired at the Club Marítimo San Antonio de la Playa marina.

For those who love water but want to escape the beach, there's Aqualand El Arenal, the largest waterpark in Europe. With all manner of slides and rides throughout, ranging from timid river rides to adrenaline-packed super slides, there's something for everyone.

Palma Aquarium is another fine attraction where visitors can see all manner of marine life. With so many opportunities throughout the whole year including the chance to scuba dive with sharks and other creatures, there's much to see and do.

Nightlife and dining

There are numerous restaurants along the beachfront and promenade, perfect for a romantic evening meal, allowing for the popular activity of sunset watching. Much of the cuisine available in the resort reflects its history with the early tourism revolution. Both Spanish and British establishments can be found throughout the town, along with a wide variety of other cuisines.

Can-Pastilla is a fantastic family resort – with so much to do there won't be time to get bored, so book your trip today!
