Hotels in Camber Sands
A hidden oasis with a Blue Flag beach and lots to do for all the family, Camber Sands in East Sussex offers a fantastic combination of miles of unspoilt sand dunes with much to do on long days and nights.
Beach
The beach is famous for its long ridges of sand dunes leading down to miles of soft golden sands, and has been the location for many films, especially for those desert shots. With such a large open space, power kites are a popular pastime, and it can become a very busy spot in the summer months with the numerous Camber Sands hotels, holiday homes and campsites nearby.
Things to do
Kitesurfing courses and lessons run daily from March to November. This part of Kent and Sussex is renowned for its great winds, and you can benefit from these at Camber Sands.
You can charter a variety of boats at Camber Sands. Choose from a Warrior 165 sea fishing boat for ‘bare-boat' charter, or a rib charter for up to 20 people – ideal for parties. Also on offer are Honda Powerboat Race experiences where you can drive a race-prepared 150 HP boat around a specially prepared sea track. And from only £12 pp, this is a snip!
The beautiful old port town of Rye is worthy of exploring, along with the fascinating old smugglers' hideouts dotted along the coast.
You can hire a bike and use this to explore much of the area, and walking is also a highly popular pastime in this picturesque spot. The Rye Harbour Nature Reserve is approximately 1.4 miles away from Camber Sands, and houses a network of foot paths allowing it to be visited from Rye and Winchelsea on foot. Within the reserve there are five hides (with wheelchair access) giving wonderful views of the wetland. This is home to a wide range of species, 150 of which are considered rare or endangered in Britain.
If fishing is your thing, at the Iden Wood Fishery, visitors are welcome to fish for bream, carp, perch, roach and tench.
