Hotels in Bethnal Green

Bethnal Green's suburban atmosphere and green spaces make it hard to believe you're only 10-15 minutes from Central London. It's easy to get around, as most places cater to the mums with buggies you'll spot everywhere.

Bethnal Green hotels are all conveniently close to a station, whether that's Bethnal Green Underground, the national rail station round the corner, or nearby Cambridge Heath. You have the choice of boutique hotels, independents and national chains.

Food and drink

As you'd expect from London, the dining options within a one-mile radius are enough to ensure you can eat differently every day. On the main road, you'll see Indian cuisine, Chinese food, gastropubs and Italian restaurants shoulder to shoulder.

The west side of Bethnal Green, bordering on trendy Shoreditch, is where you'll find a cluster of pubs and bars. At the other end, near Cambridge Heath, Quattro Bar & Grill has cocktails and nightly DJs on the menu.

The famous Brick Lane is south of the area, lined with Indian restaurants and bagel shops. Trying a fresh bagel filled with salt beef is a London experience in itself.

Days out and adventures

The V&A Museum of Childhood is a five-minute walk from Bethnal Green Underground Station, filled with exhibits to excite all ages. It has a café and a sensory room inside, making it easy to spend all afternoon there. A little further on, York Hall Leisure Centre is the place to go for swimming and the gym – as well as a Victorian spa.

For a fun night out without the kids in tow, head to Bethnal Green Working Men's Club. It hosts regular club and cabaret nights, tabletop gaming meets and film showings.

London's hubbub can be seen on Bethnal Green Road, but take a short walk in pretty much any direction to find a nice park or field. Columbia Road Flower Market is open on Sundays to give your weekend more local colour, as is the community-run Spitalfields City Farm.

Venture north of Hackney Road to reach both Hackney City Farm and the public Haggerston Park Tennis Courts. You can also play football, netball and basketball there, and bookings usually need to be made in advance.

Saint Matthew's Church Gardens is a well-kept green space with the church at the centre. Weaver's Fields has a playground for the kids, and it's the venue for Bethnal Green's annual fireworks.
