Holidays to Torrox Costa
Found directly below its mountainside sister Torrox Pueblo, Torrox Costa is a stark comparison to some of the other coastal resorts along Costa del Sol. Less developed than some its neighbours, Torrox Costa still has plenty of attractions to keep you occupied but lacks some of the concrete tower blocks you’ll find elsewhere. Famous for its stunning views of the sea and its healing thermal baths, Torrox Costa is the perfect combination of authentic Spanish holiday of sun, sea and sand. Make space for your flip-flops and your walking boots so that you can make the most of this hidden gem of Costa del Sol.
Don your flip-flops
Torrox Costa does sell itself as a beach destination and it has every right to. The long stretch of golden sand is the type of beach you would see on a postcard. Free from garish deckchairs and parasols, tourism on the beach is subtle. There are bars where you can enjoy a beer in the sunshine but you’re not overwhelmed by flashing neon signs or drinks offers. The further along the beach you walk, the more secluded it becomes. Head down to the lighthouse and you can sunbathe within the Roman ruins and enjoy a bit of peace and quiet. The peacefulness of the beach doesn’t mean there’s nothing to do, there are a variety of water sports on offer along the shore. The warm seas are beautifully inviting for diving and the waves are perfect for surfers.
Trade your flip-flops for walking boots and explore the surrounding area. A hike up the hill brings you to Torrox Pueblo, the old town of Torrox Costa. The whitewash buildings and cobbled streets are truly Spanish and every nook and cranny leads to a different bar or tapas restaurant. Walk up to the thermal spas and rejuvenate your skin, a dip in the warm water is said to help cure any ailment. Alternatively you can head towards the Balcon Mirador de la Punta de Torrox. A bit of a mouthful to say but this platform offers infinity-pool type views over the coast. If you fancy venturing further afield why not take a quick trip to Malaga.
