Holidays to Meloneras
Meloneras is commonly regarded as one of the more up and coming resorts in Gran Canaria. It offers a warm and welcoming atmosphere, somewhere between beach resort and holiday village. Families are well catered for at Meloneras, and there are ample entertainments to keep even the most active children occupied!
Situated close to the established resort towns of Maspalomas and Playa del Ingles, Meloneras enjoys some fantastic beaches, and is within easy reach of the main airport at Las Palmas – flights from the UK to Las Palmas International Airport (LPA) will take approximately 4 hours 15 minutes.
Meloneras is a modern-style resort, featuring luxurious accommodation and some great amenities. Most of the resort is built around a central promenade, and this is the perfect place to start your holiday in Meloneras. The promenade runs the entire length of the beach, and here you’ll be able to find a great selection of restaurants – the cuisine on offer includes Spanish tapas, Mediterranean dishes, fresh local fish and international favourites. Many of these restaurants offer al fresco dining with an ocean view. Meloneras is also rich in bars, although those in search of nightlife would perhaps do better to head down the road towards the club hotpots at Playa del Ingles At the far end of the promenade you’ll find the Faro Lighthouse, a majestic local landmark, which is open to visits from the public.
The wide sandy beach itself is probably the main attraction on any holiday to Meloneras. Here you can enjoy the perfect conditions for swimming and sunbathing, as well as a number of exciting water sports, such as windsurfing and scuba diving. If you head along the beach a little in the opposite direction, you’ll soon come across the extensive sand dunes at Maspalomas. Eight kilometres of fine desert sand make for a beautifully rugged landscape, and it’s no surprise that this area is a popular destination amongst hikers and bird watchers! Heading inland, there are a number of coastal paths which head up the cliffs, and along the seafront.
Another exciting attraction on any holiday to Meloneras is the famous ‘Legends Cabaret Show’, held at the Meloneras Casino. This professional production has been running for years now, and it makes the perfect end to a day of relaxing on the beach. Alternatively, if golf is your thing, you’ll be delighted to know that Meloneras now features a brand new golf course, which caters for all ages and levels of ability.
