Lindos is one of the larger towns on the Greek island of Rhodes and this exciting destination combines great beaches, rich local culture, and some fascinating historical sites. Located on the island’s east coast, Lindos makes a great destination for anyone looking to combine superb beaches with an element of traditional Greek culture.

Lindos Holidays

The town of Lindos spreads out around a sandy bay, gently climbing up into the hills. The town itself has been declared a national landmark, and recently received a preservation order. As a result, it has not been changed by tourism as much as some of the other Rhodes resort towns have. You’ll find the narrow streets in the centre are all free of vehicles, allowing you to feel as though you’ve stepped back in time, as you amble along cobbled alleys between the traditional white-washed houses.

Hotels are also forbidden from the town centre, adding to the traditional charm of Lindos. Instead, you’ll find countless shops, bars, markets and restaurants, hemmed in by ancient medieval walls. The architecture here combines influences from Roman, Italian, Turkish and Byzantine styles.

Later in the evening Lindos comes to life, with a good selection of bars and nightclubs on offer. There are plenty of options for a late night out here, although if you’re looking for the big clubs, you should think about planning a trip to Faliraki or Rhodes Town itself.

For a taste of local culture, take a trip up to the Lindos Acropolis. You’ll be able to hail a donkey at the foot of the steep climb, and as you ride up to the summit, enjoy stunning views out over the town, Pallas Beach, and St. Paul’s Bay on the other side.

Then of course, there are the beaches. Lindos boasts some fantastic stretches of fine, golden sand, in particular the beautiful coastline at Pallas Beach. Here you’ll be able to find ample opportunities for swimming and sunbathing, or perhaps try your hand at some exciting water sports. Options here include scuba diving, banana boats and windsurfing!
