Costa de la Luz holidays

Costa de la Luz is at the southern tip of Spain and contains many gems like Cadiz which is the oldest city in Europe or Tarifa which has around 50 miles of almost continual white sandy beaches with turquoise oceans. caters for all tastes and after barely two and a half hours of flying time you can make your way to Tarifa – the wind surfing capital and gateway to Africa or sample Canos de Meca, famous for having been a hippy paradise since the 1960s. If that's not your scene you can mooch around any number of picturesque fishing villages where many of the bars serve succulent seafood accompanied by chilled sherry from Jerez de la Frontera, where cobbled streets snake around the town's 13th century castle walls.

Things to do, places to see

For the courageous among us there is the cool surf resort of El Palmar, which is around a ten minute drive from Costa De La Luz. It is one of the best surfing beaches perched in the rolling hills surrounding Vejer de la Frontera. Miles and miles of near empty unspoilt golden sandy beaches makes this stretch of coast a little piece of paradise.

Climb to the top of the Torre Tavira, the highest of Cadiz's old watchtowers, for great views while panoramic images of the city are projected on to a screen. The city comes to life during its many fiestas. Cadiz is famous for its carnivals, with music, costumes and revelry.

In summer, nightlife centres around the chiringuitos, which are the beach bars that line Playa de la Victoria, come to life. There are plenty of night clubs and bars where you can dance the night away until the sun comes up!

Food and drink in Costa De La Luz

There are fish and vegetable markets galore, with stops for coffee and churros which are long fried doughnuts. If you’re not too full you could take yourself to Barrio de la Vina, the old fisherman's quarter where you can enjoy tapas and the grilled daily catch.

You will find the stamp of the eighth century Moors on the unique culture of this area by building palaces and minarets. Whether you want exciting nightlife in the many buzzing clubs and restaurants, a pretty seaside town or a peaceful hideaway in a beautiful whitewashed village, will offer you an affordable flexible holiday of your choosing. Costa De La Luz has a subtle blend of modernity and traditional culture and hospitality which makes this part of Spain so attractive.
