Holidays to Kaprun

With pistes above 2500m Kaprun is one of the few skiing resorts which can guarantee good conditions throughout the year. A one and a half hour transfer time from Salzburg airport, is well worth it for the quality of skiing you will have on arrival.

Kaprun is suited to most skiers of all levels due to the range of slopes you will have access to, including the glacial slopes of Kitzsteinhorn which is accessible by the gondola in Schüttdorf, and you can get to Schüttdorf on one of the free ski bus services running every 15 minutes. The Kitzsteinhorn is worth a visit just to reach the highest point in the area of 3029m and take a few photos for your holiday album. The glacier is suitable for all levels, with a high number of blue runs, yet offers great off piste skiing for the more experienced skier as well as steep but wide slopes for intermediates. If you don’t fancy catching the ski bus to Kitzsteinhorn then you can ride up to Maiskogel in a cable car which operates just on the outskirts of the town. Maiskogel is most suited for beginners and intermediates as most the runs from here are blue.

Kaprun is also a key location for snowboarders due to the high level of chair lifts and gondolas, making it easier for boarders to reach the top of the mountains. The Langwied area is made for snowboarders as it has natural bumps and half pipes to practice your tricks as well as your general boarding.

Whilst on your ski holiday in Kaprun you can take advantage of the local après ski lifestyle with a large selection of bars and pubs open late into the night. A recent increase in snowboarders visiting Kaprun has seen the nightlife improve with more bars extending their opening hours.
