Museums
Visit the Art Gallery of Western Australia and observe more than 15,000 works of art, from classical Renaissance paintings to contemporary Asian art. If you're interested in learning more about Western Australia's prehistoric history, spend some time in the Western Australian Museum and find out how this area of the country has evolved from the dinosaur era to the 21st century. Another fantastic family attraction is Scitech, an interactive science centre that is known for its state-of-the-art planetarium, puppet theatre and Discoveryland.
Shopping
For some superb shopping, head to the city's main shopping centres, the Hay Street Mall and the Murray Mall. Other popular shopping districts including Fremantle and Subiaco, which can easily be accessed via Perth's excellent public transport system. The city holds a number of major weekend markets, including the Bathers Beach Sunset Market, the Kailis Fish Markets, the Leederville Farmers Market, and many more.
Kings Park
More than 1,000 acres in size, Kings Park is close to Perth's main commercial district and is noted for its beautiful Botanic Garden and excellent views of the city skyline. The park also organises the annual Kings Park Festival, which welcomes hundreds of thousands of visitors and includes a music concert, a floral displays and special exhibits.
Adventure World
The amusement park known as Adventure World is one of Australia's premier theme parks and offers many exciting attractions such as the Dragon Express roller coaster, the Tunnel of Terror and the Aqua Super 6 Racer water ride. Operating from September until June, the park is also home to a number of food establishments and is situated in the Bibra Lake district to the south of the city centre.
Beaches
One of the highlights of living in Perth is witnessing its wonderful sunsets from its beaches and promenades. One impressive and relatively secluded beach is Coogee Beach, which is next to the city's southern suburbs and is popular with the locals, while South Beach to the north is known for its family friendly atmosphere and beach café. One of the most visited beaches in the area is Leighton Beach, which is popular with surfers and offers lovely views towards Rottnest Island.
