Sightseeing
Rest and relaxation are top of most people's to-do lists when they visit Grenada. Luckily the island is home to a vast number of stunning beaches. Grand Anse Beach with its calm waters and sandy expanse stretching for two miles is a top choice for many. Pingouin Beach is another great choice, offering views across to St George's and wonderful waters for snorkelling. Anyone prepared to travel in search of more secluded spots should take a look at La Sagesse and Bathway Beach.
There are numerous historic sites on the island to explore and you can learn all about the history of Grenada and its culture by visiting the Grenada National Museum in St George's. Pay a visit to Fort Matthew, a former military base and at one time a lunatic asylum. At the Westerhall Estate you'll find the oldest working waterway in the western hemisphere, along with a rum distillery where you can discover all about what goes into making a bottle of the island's spicy and decidedly moreish beverage.
Festivals
Grenada is an island full of colour and life, nevermore so than during festival season. At the annual Grenada Sailing Festival in January you'll get to enjoy international yacht racing, while the Grenada Drum Festival is non-stop fun, combining music, arts and culinary delights.
