Information about flights to Auckland

Cheap flights Auckland

The famous city of Auckland sits on one of New Zealand's northern islands. Even though the city is only small compared to this large country it holds 31% of the population, so there's always something going on. The country is home to the rolling hills and impressive mountains made famous by the Lord of the Rings and Hobbit films, so you're never too far from an impressive walk.

In the city

Auckland is a great city, and many visitors quickly feel attached to it on their visit. If you feel you'd like to learn more about the stunning location then the Auckland museum and Auckland Art Gallery both do a great job of explaining the city's natural heritage and the culture that comes from New Zealand.

In the evenings there are plenty of places to eat a variety of types of food. Bracu is a top-class restaurant that preaches garden to plate by embracing fresh and organic food. The Engine Room is a little more down to earth. Skilled chefs here have their own cook book that you can purchase after your meal.

The Viaduct Harbour area comes alive after 17:00 as the locals begin to finish work. This is a great destination for anyone looking to spend an evening eating and drinking in a great city environment by the water.

The beautiful country

You don't have to try hard at all to find majestic landscapes in New Zealand. The country is full of them. A short drive out of the city in most directions will take you to any one of the various pieces of stunning scenery. Manukau Heads Lighthouse is open to the public and easy to tie into a trip to see Awhitu Regional Park, where you can take a dip in the sea or walk the sandy beaches. If you feel like experiencing a range of the New Zealand outdoors then Whatipu Scientific Reserve shows off much of what the country has to offer. There you can see wetlands, sand dunes, rocky cliffs and the famous black sand beach.

If you really want to get out to the countryside and see Auckland's beautiful surroundings then Rotoroa Island has recently opened its gates to the public. On this hidden gem you'll be able to learn about the island's history as a private spot for recuperation, not to mention enjoy any one of its four beaches.

Whether you choose to embrace the cosmopolitan city, wander out into the countryside or make the best of both worlds, a flight to Auckland with lastminute.com is a great way to experience one of the world's best holiday locations.
