Iceland: Airspace Closed Following Volcanic Eruption

Iceland: Airspace closed following volcanic eruption

Updated: Monday, 23rd May, 15:30 BST

The Icelandic airspace has been shut following Saturdays explosion of Grimsvotn volcano. All domestic and international flights to and from Iceland have been suspended until at least 19:00 BST today. Currently there is no closure threat to airspace over any other European country so your future travel plans remain unaffected. All airlines and airports are operating their normal schedule across Europe. If you are due to fly to or from Iceland, please check the status of your flight before leaving for the airport. You can also monitor the FCO Travel Advice for the latest information on Iceland, We continue to monitor the situation closely, and will update these pages following any potential changes.
