lastminute.com is currently striving to meet accessibility guidelines as set by the government. Efforts are being made to change the entire lastminute.com website to ensure we meet the "AA" compliancy level as set by the WAI (Web Accessibility Initiative). This is an ongoing process, and we are gradually working through the entire site to make sure it meets these guidelines.
Many Internet sites are designed in a fashion which makes them difficult, or even impossible, to use by Internet users with disabilities. lastminute.com is in the process of changing the site so that it can take advantage of the technology that assists users with disabilities, including screen-readers and the use of access keys to access areas of the site.
Access keys are keyboard shortcuts that provide links to important areas of the site. Windows users can press ALT + an access key, followed by RETURN for those using Microsoft Internet Explorer. Apple Macintosh users can press CONTROL + an access key.
We aim to make all our pages validate as XHTML 1.0 Transitional and use structured semantic mark-up. We also aim for our pages to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 1.0, which are endorsed by the Royal National Institute for the Blind. We strive to obey the spirit of the UK Disability Discrimination Act 1995 with respect to the provision of services online, as required by the Disability Rights Commission.
