Description
Venue: Jurong BirdPark When: Daily
One of Asia Pacific's largest bird parks, the landscaped environment of Jurong Birdpark is home to over 8000 birds from 600 species, displayed in huge enclosures.
One of the park's most impressive features is the world's largest walk-in aviary, containing the tallest man-made waterfall, where visitors can get up close and personal with free-flying birds from Africa and South America in a tropical setting.
Another walk-in aviary, the Southeast Asian Birds Aviary, showcases the region's exotic and endangered birds, and elsewhere lakes and paddocks have been built for the display of water birds and other large flightless birds such as ostriches, rheas, emus and cassowaries. Another big attraction is the penguin parade, featuring over 200 penguins in a specially created environment that mimics the Antarctic, right down to seasonally adjusted lighting, rocks, cliffs and a large chilled pool.
To see some of the birds in action, bird shows are staged both at the amphitheatre and the falconry arena. As an added bonus, some of the open spaces have been beautifully landscaped with exotic flowering plants such as heliconias and anthuriums.
