Description
Venue: Teatro Municipal When: Daily
Built in 1911, the Municipal Theatre plays an important role in the cultural life of São Paulo. The building hosts operas, concerts and ballets, with performers from all over the world.
The baroque theatre, built with sandstone and elaborately sculpted red marble, was the design of Italian architects Cláudio Rossi and Domiziano Rossi.
In the 1950s, the building was renovated in order to accommodate more people. The theatre's highly-decorated hall is only opened to the public for performances.
