Description

Venue: Tenth Street Baths    When: Daily

Soak, scrub, sweat and have a hearty rubdown with oak leaves at what is surely the best spa deal in Manhattan. The Tenth Street Baths have been wooing locals with promises of stress-release for more than 100 years.

Granted, this is not a luxury experience like those in New York's smarter uptown spas. However, if you're looking for more of an experience and something lighter on your wallet, this Russian and Turkish bathhouse is your best bet.

The Baths, as they are affectionately called, offer regular sauna and steam baths, full massages, a Soap Wash, a Dead Sea Scrub and what can only be described as the Russian Room experience. Here, the braver among you will receive the platze (an oak leaf rubdown), followed by a plunge in an icy bath. There are beds upstairs for those in need of a post-spa snooze and there's even a sundeck. The Baths are open 365 days a year: Wednesday mornings are for ladies only and Sunday morning just for men.
