Day 3 - New Orleans to Vacherie (82km)
Enjoy some more time in New Orleans and surroundings before heading west on a scenic drive past the breathtaking Louisiana landscape to Vacherie and Oak Alley Plantation. The beautifully preserved, 1839 plantation is located on 25 acres of sprawling land and features Greek-revival style architecture, and a quarter mile of centuries-old oak trees. Learn about the captivating stories surrounding this National Historic Landmark and its history before settling in this amazing home for the night.

Day 4 - Vacherie to Natchez (226km)
Set off north along the scenic highway towards Mississippi. Journey past historic cities such as Baton Rouge and St. Francistown to today's destination Natchez, Mississippi.
Natchez is the oldest permanent settlement on the Mississippi River. Step back into the antebellum era by taking a tour of one of the magnificent homes. Look through stately oak trees and brilliant white columns for a vibrant example of the golden era when cotton was King and the Mississippi River was the King's highway. Natchez Under-the-Hill is a great place to visit at night, with shops, quaint restaurants and taverns.
Overnight in Natchez at Monmouth Plantation.
Day 5 - Natchez to Lafayette (240km)
Travel south, back into Louisiana and west towards Lafayette, the heart of Cajun Country and the cultural center of Louisiana's heritage. Discover the mix of French, Spanish and Caribbean influences, and experience the multitude of historic attractions, majestic plantation homes, vibrant gardens, leisurely swamp tours, and exciting museums.
Overnight in Lafayette at Bois Des Chenes Bed & Breakfast.
Day 6 - Lafeyette to Napoleanville (165km)
Take some more time to explore Lafayette before heading towards Napoleonville. Visit Acadian Village, a reconstructed Cajun bayou community or Vermillionville, the reconstruction of a Cajun Creole settlement from the 1765 to 1890 era. Relax at Cypress Lake, where you will be able to observe alligators, turtles, fish and birds. Stroll through Jefferson Street Market and browse through anything from French antiques to fine art or take a boat trip into the swamps with some fantastic photo opportunities.
Then take the two-hour drive east to Napoleanville, where you will spend the night at Madewood Plantation. Madewood was built to be the gem of the bayou, outshining all mansions in the neighbourhood and having been spared by the Civil War, much of its grandeur can still be enjoyed today.
