Itinerary
Day 1 - Arrival in New Orleans
Upon arrival in New Orleans, pick up your hire car and transfer to your hotel. The rest of the day is at your leisure to relax or start exploring this magical Mardi Gras city. Stroll through the French Quarter seeped in Creole history and enjoy the Garden District with its stately homes. Visit nearby plantations or enjoy some jazz at many of this great city's landmark venues, like Preservation Hall.

Day 2 - New Orleans
The French Quarter is the heart and soul of the city where wrought iron balconies and antique shops appear next to all night jazz clubs, fantastic restaurants and beautiful homes. Visit Royale Street, Bourbon Street, Jackson Square and the many museums. Take a boat cruise on the steamboat paddle wheeler, Natchez. Tonight sample Creole or Cajun cuisine, take in some jazz, or relax along the river with a chicory coffee and beignet, a specialty in the area.

Day 3 - New Orleans to Natchez (275km)
After a leisurely breakfast, set off north along the scenic highway towards Mississippi. Journey past historic cities such as Baton Rouge and St. Francistown to today's destination Natchez, Mississippi.

Day 4 - Natchez
Natchez is the oldest permanent settlement on the Mississippi River. Step back into the antebellum era by taking a tour of one of the magnificent homes. Look through stately oak trees and brilliant white columns for a vibrant example of the golden era when cotton was King and the Mississippi River was the King's highway. Natchez Under-the-Hill is a great place to visit at night, with shops, quaint restaurants and taverns.

Day 5 - Natchez to Lafayette (240km)
Travel south, back into Louisiana and west towards Lafayette, the heart of Cajun Country and the cultural center of Louisiana's heritage. Discover the mix of French, Spanish and Caribbean influences, and experience the multitude of historic attractions, majestic plantation homes, vibrant gardens, leisurely swamp tours, and exciting museums.

Day 6 - Lafeyette
Enjoy another day in Cajun Country. Visit Acadian Village, a reconstructed Cajun bayou community or Vermillionville, the reconstruction of a Cajun Creole settlement from the 1765 to 1890 era. Relax at Cypress Lake on the campus grounds of the University of Louisiana. The lake is a favourite hangout for students and visitors alike, and you will be able to observe alligators, turtles, fish and birds. Stroll through Jefferson Street Market and browse through anything from French antiques to fine art or take a boat trip into the swamps with some fantastic photo opportunities.

Day 7 - Lafayette to Houma (170km)
Take the two-hour drive east towards Houma, an area of wetlands with some of the best fishing in the country. With exciting swamp tours, spicy Cajun cuisine, weekly Cajun music events, lively dancehalls, birding trails, golf, a wildlife park and a waterpark there is plenty of things to see and do. Come evening, life continues in the lounges, casinos and nightclubs in town, where you can celebrate the near end of this wonderful trip through the USA's south.

Day 8 - Houma to New Orleans ( 90km) - End of Tour
Enjoy the drive through Louisiana's wetlands back to New Orleans, where you will drop your hire car off at the International Airport, and check-in for your return flight.

From New Orleans, take I-10 west and then the exit for the Airport Access Road, which leads directly to the terminal.
The airport has two large on-site parking garages for long- and short-term parking. There are also several off-airport companies that offer long-term parking. Valet parking is available outside entrance 7.
Companies Alamo, Avis, Budget, Enterprise, Hertz, National and Thrifty are all represented, with desks on the lower level.
Rail: Passengers wishing to reach the Amtrak Union Station at 1001 Loyola Avenue should use bus or taxi services as Amtrak does not provide a shuttle. Road: Taxi: Taxis are readily available on the lower level outside baggage reclaim. The Airport Shuttle service (tel: 504 522 3500) is available from the airport to the hotels in the central business district; the ticket office is on the lower level in the baggage reclaim area. Limousine: Airport Limousine Service provides luxury transport from the airport to the central business district and the French Quarter; information desks are located on the lower level baggage reclaim areas. Bus: Jefferson Transit provides public buses to areas in the local district; the Greyhound Bus departure point is also located on the upper level outside entrance 7. Coastliner runs shuttles to destinations on the Mississippi coast.
Visitor information services are located in the West Lobby (tel: 504 464 2752), in the West Terminal (tel: 504 463 1020) and in the East Baggage Claim area (tel: 504 465 8852). All visitor information service representatives are bilingual or multi-lingual; there is also a 24-hour Red Cross Language Bank (tel: 504 586 8191). A Travelers Aid counter in the East Baggage Claim area (tel: 504 464 3522) also provides assistance and tourist information.
Money and communications: A bank, bureau de change facilities and a post office are located in the main ticket hall. ATMs can be found throughout the airport. Internet kiosks are available on each concourse. Eating and drinking: There are many restaurants, bars, ice-cream parlours and cafés situated around the terminal. Shopping: There are several shops throughout the terminal, including duty-free. Luggage: The lost property office in the West lobby is open 24 hours. Lockers are not currently available but Rush-it Courier Services offer a storage facility at the baggage reclaim area.
Wireless Internet is available on concourse C. All public telephones have data connections for laptop connection to Internet or business intranet. The TravelEx America Business Centre, in the main ticket hall, has facilities including travel insurance, bureau de change, photocopying, fax and money transfers. Delta Air Lines has a Delta Crown Room, located between gates 2 and 4 on concourse D, for its business-class passengers. The nearby Hilton New Orleans Airport (tel: 504 469 5000) has a 24-hour business centre with equipped meeting space, including a high-tech amphitheatre, and a dedicated business concierge.
The airport is fully accessible for people with disabilities and there are several TDD telephones located around the airport. There is a TDD telephone number for information and enquiries (tel: 504 463 1057).
There are no on-site hotels; the Hilton New Orleans Airport (tel: 504 469 5000) is the closest to the airport, but there are also numerous other nearby hotels, including the Best Western New Orleans Inn At The Airport (tel: 504 464 1644), Holiday Inn Select (tel: 504 467 5611) and the Hilton Garden Inn New Orleans Airport (tel: 504 712 0504).
