The Skylink moving walkway system links Terminals 1, 2 and 3 via the airport railway station.
The airport lies off junction 5 of the M56 motorway, which connects with the M60 (Manchester’s ring road) at junction 4. Directions for all terminals are clearly signposted.
There are some 14,000 parking spaces available at the airport. Short- and long-term parking facilities (tel: (0)161 489 3723) are available. The short-stay multi-storey parking lots are located close to Terminals 1, 2 and 3. Long-term parking is recommended for any stay over 6 hours. Pre-booking, with discounts offered, is available online. A regular courtesy shuttle bus operates from the long-term car parks to all terminals. Companies at the airport include Avis, Budget, Europcar, Hertz, National and Sixt. All have desks in each of the terminals.
Rail: Manchester Airport’s new rail, coach and bus interchange, known as The Station, is connected to all three terminals via the Skylink moving walkway system. Trains operate to Manchester Airport from many stations in northern England and the Midlands. There is a frequent service between the airport and Manchester Piccadilly Station in the city centre, which has connections to most major destinations. Road: Taxi: Taxis are available outside or near the Arrivals hall of each terminal. Bus: The airport’s bus network provides direct services to many local centres, as well as to other towns and cities. Coach: A number of National Express services (tel: (0)870 575 7747; website: www.nationalexpress.com) run from The Station to various destinations throughout the UK.
Tourist information centres are situated in the Arrivals areas of Terminals 1 and 2 (tel: (0)161 436 3344). There are also information desks situated in all terminals. Several members of staff are trained in British Sign Language.
Money and communications: ATMs, bureaux de change, banking facilities, Internet booths and a post office are available. Eating and drinking: All terminals have restaurants, cafés and bars with 24-hour facilities. Shopping: Duty-free shops and a variety of gift shops and concessions are available. Luggage: Left-luggage facilities and lost property offices are available (tel: (0)161 489 3463 for Terminal 1 or (0)161 489 6031 for Terminal 2). Other facilities: These include a medical centre, two prayer rooms, baby changing facilities and a 24-hour children’s play area.
The Airport Business Centre (tel: (0)161 490 5580) offers a wide range of professional business support services, including private workstations with telephone, fax, photocopying and word processing facilities, meeting room hire, Internet access and videoconferencing. The airport also has conference and banqueting facilities in the Atlantic Suite (tel: (0)161 489 6181/2) and Radisson SAS Hotel (tel: (0)161 490 5000), catering for up to 400 people and including a comprehensive range of audiovisual, telephone and fax equipment. The Escape Lounge (tel: (0)161 489 3388) offers passengers a chance to relax and use a variety of business facilities, including fax machines, telephones, Internet access and photocopying; there is a charge for entry to this lounge.
There are accessible toilets, ramps and lifts, hearing loops and wheelchair-accessible telephones throughout the terminals. All telephones are fitted with induction loops. The desk in Terminal 1 International Arrivals is equipped with a Minicom system (tel: (0)161 489 3561). Passengers requiring wheelchairs or special assistance should contact their airline prior to travel. There are parking spaces for disabled travellers (tel: (0)161 489 3723).

Passengers transfer between terminals via a covered walkway.
From New York/New Haven, take I-95 North to exit 48 (I-91 North) or Route 15 North to exit 17 (I-91), then take I-91 North to exit 40 and follow the connector road to the airport. From Providence/New London, take I-95 South to exit 69 (Route 9 North), follow Route 9 North to I-91 and take I-91 North to exit 40 and follow the connector to the airport. From Brattleboro/Springfield, take I-91 South to exit 40 and follow the connector to the airport. From Boston/Worcester, take I-90 West to exit 9 (I-84), proceed on I-84 West to exit 61 (I-291 West), take I-291 West to exit 2B (I-91 North), then take I-91 North to exit 40 and follow the connector to the airport. From Danbury/Waterbury, take I-84 East to exit 51 (I-91 North), take I-91 North to exit 40 and follow the connector to the airport.
There is both on- and off-site parking at the airport (tel: (860) 627 3555). A 3,500-space parking garage, offering short- and long-term parking, is located directly in front of Terminal A, within easy walking distance; additionally, a short- and long-term on-airport car park is located close to Terminal B. Five long-term car parks are served by courtesy shuttle buses, daily 24 hours. Several companies provide off-site parking with approximately 12,000 additional parking spaces, all within 1.6km (1 mile) of the airport.
Avis, Budget, Hertz and National are all represented at the airport. The car hire car park is located nest to long-term car park 3 and is served by shuttle buses running from the terminals, daily 24 hours.
Road: Taxi: A taxi service is available from ground transportation service coordinators located at counters on the lower level curbside of Terminal A and next to baggage reclaim area two in Terminal B. Taxis are normally available 0700-2400. Outside these hours, taxis can be called from airport phones or hailed from the curb outside baggage reclaim. Bus: Connecticut Transit (tel: (860) 525 9181) runs buses between the Old State House in Hartford and the airport. Valley Transporter (tel: (413) 253 1350) offers a door-to-door shuttle service, running hourly from both terminals until 0030; desks are located in the baggage reclaim areas of both terminals. Thomas Transport (tel: (603) 352 5550) also offers a scheduled shuttle service from the airport. For more information on bus services, call the Connecticut Bus Association (tel: (860) 272 9955).
A Visitor Information Booth is located in Terminal A (tel: (860) 627 3590) and provides tourist information, airport directions and paging services. Connecticut Welcome Centres are located in both terminals for tourist information and brochures.
Money and communications: Banks, ATMs and Internet kiosks are located at the airport, in both terminals. Telephones are in Terminal A. Eating and drinking: Facilities include restaurants, snack bars, fast-food outlets, cafés, an ice cream parlour and cocktail lounges in Terminal A and a pub in Terminal B. Shopping: There are gift shops and newsagents in both terminals. Luggage: Trolleys are available throughout both terminals for a small fee. Lost property is handed to the State Police; to inquire about missing items, contact Troop W (tel: (860) 292 7400). Other facilities: None.
The American Audio Visual business centre (tel: (860) 623 5381) is located by the entrance to the Sheraton Hotel between Terminals A and B. Facilities include a photocopier, fax machine, computer workstations, parcel delivery services, and overhead and slide projectors. There are executive lounges in both terminals, including the US Airways Club Lounge (tel: (860) 627 3933), which is located near boarding gate A6; facilities include telephones, work stations and data ports. The state-of-the-art Connecticut Convention Center (website: www.ctconventions.com) at Adriaen’s Landing, located just minutes from the airport, opened in 2005 and offers excellent conference facilities.
The airport is physically accessible to disabled passengers, with lifts in both terminals and ramps in both Terminal B concourses. Passengers requiring assistance should contact the Skycap station on the upper level; passengers should also inform their airline of any requirements or assistance, prior to travel. All toilets are wheelchair-accessible; a unisex companion-care toilet is also available next to the baggage reclaim area on the lower level. Eight TDD/TTY phones for the speech and hearing impaired are located in the lobby, in two concourses, the baggage reclaim area of Terminal B and the lobby, concourse and baggage reclaim areas of Terminal A. There are spaces for disabled travellers in both the long- and short-term car parks.
The Sheraton Bradley (tel: (860) 627 5311) is situated just off the corridor which connects Terminals A and B. There are eight other hotels within a 10-minute drive of the airport, all of which provide courtesy shuttle buses to/from the airport; the nearest of these hotels is the Hampton Inn Hartford/Airport (tel: (860) 683 1118) located approximately 2km (1.5 mile) from the airport. The other hotels are the Baymont Inn and Suites (tel: (860) 623 3336), Bradley International Inn (tel: (860) 623 2533), Bradley Ramada Inn (tel: (860) 623 9494), Days Inn Bradley Airport (tel: (860) 623 9417), Doubletree Hotel (tel: (860) 627 5171), Fairfield Inn (tel: (860) 627 9333) and Homewood Suites (tel: (860) 627 8463).
