Transfer between Terminals

The Skylink moving walkway system links Terminals 1, 2 and 3 via the airport railway station.

Driving Directions

The airport lies off junction 5 of the M56 motorway, which connects with the M60 (Manchester’s ring road) at junction 4. Directions for all terminals are clearly signposted.

Car Parking

There are some 14,000 parking spaces available at the airport. Short- and long-term parking facilities (tel: (0)161 489 3723) are available. The short-stay multi-storey parking lots are located close to Terminals 1, 2 and 3. Long-term parking is recommended for any stay over 6 hours. Pre-booking, with discounts offered, is available online. A regular courtesy shuttle bus operates from the long-term car parks to all terminals. Car Hire

Companies at the airport include Avis, Budget, Europcar, Hertz, National and Sixt. All have desks in each of the terminals.

Public Transport

Rail: Manchester Airport’s new rail, coach and bus interchange, known as The Station, is connected to all three terminals via the Skylink moving walkway system. Trains operate to Manchester Airport from many stations in northern England and the Midlands. There is a frequent service between the airport and Manchester Piccadilly Station in the city centre, which has connections to most major destinations. Tourist information centres are situated in the Arrivals areas of Terminals 1 and 2 (tel: (0)161 436 3344). There are also information desks situated in all terminals. Several members of staff are trained in British Sign Language.

Airport Facilities

Money and communications: ATMs, bureaux de change, banking facilities, Internet booths and a post office are available. Eating and drinking: All terminals have restaurants, cafés and bars with 24-hour facilities. Shopping: Duty-free shops and a variety of gift shops and concessions are available. Other facilities: These include a medical centre, two prayer rooms, baby changing facilities and a 24-hour children’s play area.

The Airport Business Centre (tel: (0)161 490 5580) offers a wide range of professional business support services, including private workstations with telephone, fax, photocopying and word processing facilities, meeting room hire, Internet access and videoconferencing. The airport also has conference and banqueting facilities in the Atlantic Suite (tel: (0)161 489 6181/2) and Radisson SAS Hotel (tel: (0)161 490 5000), catering for up to 400 people and including a comprehensive range of audiovisual, telephone and fax equipment. The Escape Lounge (tel: (0)161 489 3388) offers passengers a chance to relax and use a variety of business facilities, including fax machines, telephones, Internet access and photocopying; there is a charge for entry to this lounge.

Disabled Facilities

There are accessible toilets, ramps and lifts, hearing loops and wheelchair-accessible telephones throughout the terminals. All telephones are fitted with induction loops. Driving Directions

The airport can be reached from Hwy-102 heading north out of Halifax. Take Exit 6 and follow the signs to the airport.

Car Parking

Short- and long-term parking is available in open-air car parks, which are patrolled 24 hours a day. There are 1,750 spaces in the long-term car park and over 200 short-term spaces at parking meters. The terminal can be accessed from two levels; passengers either walk through the south or centre entrances from the lower level or walk through the south or centre entrances next to the drop-off points on the main level.

Car Hire

Avis, Budget, Dollar, Enterprise, Hertz, National and Thrifty are all represented at the airport. Their desks are located in the Domestic Arrivals hall.

Public Transport

Road: Taxi: Taxi services are available from in front of the Domestic Arrivals area. Limousine: Limousine services are available from in front of the Domestic Arrivals area. Bus: Airbus (tel: 902 873 2091) runs a shuttle service from the airport via numerous hotels in the area and connects to Halifax Regional Municipality’s Metro Transit (tel: 902 490 4000), which runs bus, ferry and community transit services. Acadian Lines (tel: 902 454 9321) also operates a bus service to/from the airport. Shuttles depart for Sydney, Annapolis Valley, Yarmouth, Truro and Prince Edward Island. There are ATMs located on the main level and the Departures level. Telephones with Internet access are situated throughout the Departures lounge. Internet kiosks are situated throughout the terminal. Eating and drinking: There is a wide selection of food outlets, from fast-food to a delicatessen, situated on the main level and in Departures; there is also a pub/restaurant and a 24-hour coffee shop in Departures. Shopping: The shops at the airport are located in the main level and Departures level and include a gift shop and newsagents stand, duty free in Departures, a seafood shop and a liquor store, as well as a quality craft shop. A convenience store is situated in Arrivals. Luggage: Left luggage is located in the lower lobby of the centre tunnel entrance to the airport. There is a lost property office in the security office, located in Room B1063C in the centre tunnel of the terminal, open daily 24 hours (tel: 902 873 1039). Other facilities: There is an airport chapel located on the mezzanine level. Children’s play areas are located throughout the Departures lounge.

Conference and Business Facilities

There is a fax machine and other services available at TravelExtra Canada, on the main level of the terminal, open 0600-2200. Internet access is also available throughout the terminal. There are no meeting and conference facilities at the airport; meeting rooms are available in the Airport Hotel (tel: 902 873 3000 or 800 667 3333 toll free USA and Canada only; fax: 902 873 3001), accommodating up to 150 delegates.

Disabled Facilities
