Lake Louise, the 'Jewel in the Rockies', is quite simply an area of outstanding natural beauty. Situated in the majestic Banff National Park and surrounded by a panorama of breath-taking peaks, it offers a wealth of activities for skiers and non-skiers alike. There is also some great apres-ski on hand, including line-dancing and country music. The resort itself is fairly compact but still offers a good selection of mostly good-value accommodation, shops and restaurants. Some holidaymakers prefer to stay 60km away in the larger town of Banff and visit on daytrips for the slopes. Access to the area's other two resorts of Sunshine Village and Mount Norquay/Mystic Ridge is easy by car.
On the slopes, the resort boasts eleven square miles of skiable terrain spread over four mountain faces. It is seemingly perfect for all levels, from novices and intermediates, to advanced skiers and boarders. Beginners love the gentle, unhurried skiing on easy pistes; intermediates enjoy miles of well-groomed pistes; advanced skiers tackle the blacks and powder of the famed Purple Bowl. Lake Louise also has the advantage of warm American hospitality, bringing with it smiles and friendly customer service.
