This great holiday includes seven wonderful nights cruising down the legendary Nile followed by three nights in the bustling capital city of Cairo.
Egypt has so often been described as the gift of the Nile and there can be no better way to discover the ancient riches of Egypt than to cruise along the river. Combined with the fascinating city of Cairo with it's magnificent Great Pyramids and Egytian museum makes this Classical Egypt package a perfect introduction to the enchanting and classical sights of Egypt and for many the experience of a lifetime.

Itinerary
- Day 1: Depart UK and upon arrival transfer to your 5* Viking Premiere cruise ship in Luxor for 7 nights. Dinner and overnight onboard.
- Day 2: Morning excursion to The Valley of the Kings, the Temple of Hatshepsut, Valley of the Queens and a final stop at the Colossi of Memnon. (This whole morning tour takes approximately 5 hours) On arrival back at the boat, lunch is served and the boat sets sail. The afternoon is spent relaxing on the sundeck while watching the varied local life on the river and its banks.
- Day 3: Morning visit to the Temple at Edfu. Afterwards, there is time to roam the local market where you will be able to prepare for this evening's Galabeya Party on board the boat. Afternoon spent relaxing on the sundeck as the boat sails to Aswan.
- Day 4: Morning visit to the High Dam, the Old Granite Quarries, the Unfinished Obelisk and the Temple of Philae on Philae Island. In the afternoon sail by Felucca down the Nile and around Kitchener Island and its Botanical Gardens.
- Day 5: Today can be spent either at leisure or on optional excursions. The most popular excursion being to the Temple of Abu Simbel, (By coach approx £60 - By Air approx £100.) In the afternoon an optional excursion to a Nubian Village via camel or boat costs approx £15. In the late afternoon we set sail for Kom Ombo and a visit to the Ptolemic Temple takes place that evening.
- Day 6: All day sailing downstream from Aswan to Luxor. The day is spent at leisure on board arriving into Luxor by the evening. This evenings entertainment is a traditional Belly Dancer.
- Day 7: The day begins with a morning visit to the Temple of Karnak, the papyrus museum and the traditional perfume shops of Luxor. After lunch, visit the Temple of Luxor after which there is ample opportunity to explore the markets of Luxor for souvenirs and gifts. That evening there is an optional excursion to the Sound and Light Show at Karnak Temple.
- Day 8: Fly to Cairo for a 3 night stay at your chosen hotel.
- Day 9: Optional excursion to see the Great Pyramids of Giza and Sphinx and or a visit to the Egyptian museum to see the treasures of Tutankhamen. In the evening enjoy an optional dinner cruise on the Nile.
- Day 10: Day at leisure to explore the many fascinating bazaars the most famous being the Khan El Khaili or take an optional trip to see the mosques and churches of Cairo. In the evening a chance to take an optional excursion to see the fantastic Sound & Light show at the Pyramids.
- Day 11: Transfer to the airport for your return flight to the UK.
Please note: Order of sailing and touring is subject to change locally. Esna Lock closed during June and early December. Boats sail between Esna & Aswan with full sightseeing itinerary.
Ship accommodation
All our boats offer a good standard of accommodation with warm, friendly service creating a relaxed and intimate cruising experience. This Nile cruise operates on a full board basis with buffet breakfast, followed by lunch and dinner all buffet style offering a range of international dishes. There is a lounge bar which is the perfect place to relax on comfortable sofas and enjoy a drink whilst watching the evening entertainment. Other facilities include a sundeck with plunge pool and sunbeds plus a gift shop.
