Take a journey of discovery and visit some of Egypt’s finest ancient monuments along the banks of the Nile, including those at Edfu, Kom Ombo, Aswan and the Valley of the Queens at Luxor.

Itinerary

• Day 1: Monday - Fly direct from London Gatwick or Manchester to Luxor. Transfer by coach and embark M.S. Da Vinci.

• Day 2: Tuesday - In the morning you cross to the West Bank and visit the Valley of the Kings, the Valley of the Queens and the Colossi of Memnon. Optional excursion to Queen Hatshepsut's Temple. In the afternoon sail to Edfu, passing through the Esna lock on route. Over night at Edfu.

• Day 3: Wednesday - A visit to the Temple of Horus then sail to Kom Ombo for a visit to the Temple before sailing to Aswan.

• Day 4: Thursday - In the morning you visit the High Dam and the Philae Temple. In the afternoon you can view the Aga Khan’s Mausoleum and Botanical Garden by felucca. Optional Botanical Garden and Mango Island excursion, and Sound and Light show at the Philae Temple.

• Day 5: Friday - Spend a day of leisure in Aswan or take an optional excursion by road or air to Abu Simbel. In the afternoon, sail to Edfu for an overnight stay.

• Day 6: Saturday - In the morning you sail back to Luxor. Afternoon visit to the Karnak and Luxor Temples. Optional Sound and Light show in the evening at the Karnak Temple.

• Day 7: Sunday - Day at leisure in Luxor. Optional excursion to Cairo (full day) or Dendera (half day).

• Day 8: Monday - Morning at leisure. Optional early morning hot air balloon flight over the West Bank. Transfer by coach to the airport for your return flight to London Gatwick or Manchester.

Accommodation

M.S. Da Vinci - 7 nights - Full board

Built in 1993, and refurbished in 2006, the Five Star M.S. Da Vinci carries just 136 passengers in air-conditioned comfort. From the moment you enter at reception, with its marble floors, two seating areas and ornate marble staircase to the Upper Deck, you will be assured a warm welcome and friendly smile from all staff on board. Facilities include a restaurant offering excellent views of the scenery as you pass by, a small shop, comfortable lounge and separate panorama bar with pool table.

There is an inviting swimming pool, a pool bar and a large sun bathing terrace where you can relax and watch the scenery unfold. Choose from a wide selection of items at the hot and cold breakfast buffet whilst lunch and dinner are either buffet or waiter service. Evening entertainment includes occasional dancing and theme nights complete with belly-dancers.

Please note: British passport holders require a visa to visit Egypt. A Single Entry Tourist visa is required. It is valid for six months from the date of issue. The cost is £15 (approximately US$ 26) per visa and can be obtained from the Egyptian Consulate in London prior to departure or on arrival at Luxor airport.

Price includes: Return economy class flights between London Gatwick or Manchester and Luxor, 7 night Nile cruise in a twin berth cabin on Lower deck, excursions detailed in the itinerary whilst cruising on the Nile, all port and airport taxes, coach transfers between overseas airport and M.S. Da Vinci, full board throughout cruise.
