Description
Venue: National Waterfront Museum When: Daily
Housed in an impressive new building in Swansea, the National Waterfront Museum explores Wales' unique industrial and maritime heritage.
Wales was one of the earliest and most heavily industrialised countries on the planet. The nation reaped the benefits, but also suffered the consequences. A visit to the museum reveals true stories of wealth and poverty, upheaval and opportunity.
A series of 15 themed exhibits trace Welsh social and industrial development through interactive displays, film, sound archives, photography, sculpture and the latest sensory technology. Projections respond to gestures and touch-sensitive tabletops provide new ways for visitors to discover a key period in Welsh history.
Visitors can learn about the effects of development on the Welsh people and local communities, the importance of natural resources and the sea, Welsh heroes and new frontiers of technology.
