Description
Venue: At-Bristol When: Daily
A tropical paradise awaits in the heart of Bristol city centre in the shape of Wildwalk. This spectacular attraction takes the visitor on a journey through the history of life on Earth via 75,000 tiny animals and a living tropical rainforest.
Within a stone's throw of the equally spectacular IMAX theatre, Wildwalk offers interactive and informative displays where evolution, biodiversity, the environment and all the pressures on our survival can be explored.
A huge section is devoted to insects, where you can come face to face with scorpions and spiders as well as viewing flies and cockroaches through moveable magnifying spy holes. Aquatic life is also featured, with everything from sea horses to shellfish.
The highlight of the visit must surely be the beautiful botanical gardens, where tropical plants and trees have been painstakingly acclimatised to adapt to life in the UK. Here you can enjoy the humidity and sounds of a genuine rainforest while beautiful butterflies and birds flutter by.
Not to be missed is the unique ants colony, where thousands of worker ants and leaf cutters weave their busy way back and forth along a designated route through the forest, ferrying leaves and food back to their nest.
From simple beginnings to the complexity of life today, Wildwalk immerses you on a journey through a rich world of live plants and animals, revealing the amazing diversity of life on our planet.
