Its the 1960s and all is not quite as it seems in a sleepy London suburb. Bob and Barbara Jackson have been friends for years with their neighbours, Peter and Helen Krogar. The neighbourly trust is shattered when the Krogars are arrested and dramatically revealed as Russian spys. They have been working in secret with the infamous spy Gordon Lonsdale, sending classified photographs to Russia. The Jacksons are faced with the dilemma of choosing between loyalty to their friends and loyalty to their country.
Its original West End production starred Judi Dench and Michael Williams and ran for nearly a year. Judi Dench won the 1983 Olivier Award for Best Actress for her performance. The show later opened on Broadway and was adapted into an Emmy award-wining American TV series.
It will be directed by Christopher Morahan, who has worked extensively at the National Theatre. His film and television credits include TVs Jewell In The Crown and the hit film Clockwise starring John Cleese.
